Weird Al is back again with this entertaining concert off the back of his most recent album Apocalypse. The two year old concert, featuring some old classics and some new upcoming hits, has Weird Al is on stage doing what he does best, making people laugh!
The concert kicks off with Polka Face, a collection of some more recent radio songs (including Bieber's Baby, and P!NK's So What) reworked to fit the awesome genre of polka, a personal favourite of Al's. I've never before seen Weird Al play piano accordian before, and boy does he do a great job at it!
He then heads into a mix of some newer and older tunes including Smells Like Nirvana, Party In The CIA and Canadian Idiot, before kicking off again into a favourite part of mine, a medley. Consisting again of some older and newer covers, including crowd favourites such as eBay, Lasagna and Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies, it allows for newer audiences to experience a broad range of music styles Weird Al can play!
Hit tracks including White & Nerdy, and in particular Fat, show what Weird Al would look like if he began to let himself go! As an encore, he returns to the stage with his accompanying 4-piece band to perform some Star Wars related tunes, The Saga Begins and Yoda, much to the excitement of the live audience!
With some great special features including music videos, extra live performances of songs, sketches and clips from Al's personal YouTube account, this release is something that fans of the icon will love. I'd personally never seen Weird Al perform live in any way before, and found it brought a whole new dimension to his music, and showed what amazing things can be produced on stage!
I recommend checking out this Alopcalypse Tour DVD from Weird Al. Even though the concert is over two years old, the tunes and gags are still as popular today as they were back then!
