'Jonathan Creek is a British mystery series produced by the BBC and written by David Renwick. Primarily a crime drama, the show is also peppered with broadly comic touches. It stars Alan Davies as the title character, who works as a creative consultant to a stage magician while also solving seemingly supernatural mysteries through his talent for logical deduction and understanding of illusions.'
When a dead body impossibly vanishes from a locked study it is only the first in a chain of dark mysteries confronting Jonathan Creek and self-styled paranormal investigator Joey Ross.
A grisly murder, the macabre history of a Catholic girls’ school, a sinister local society and a series of increasingly puzzling, interlocking clues form the backdrop to another weird and wonderful case for Creek and Joey – this time however, they find themselves merely junior players in an inquiry spearheaded by the flamboyant and indomitable detective inspector Gideon Pryke.
An inquiry whose resolution will prove infinitely deeper and darker than any of them could have imagined...
Alan Davies (QI) and Sheridan Smith (Gavin & Stacey) are back to solve another seemingly impossible mystery from the prolific pen of David Renwick (One Foot In The Grave). Joining the sleuths are a superb line of guest stars including Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Rik Mayall (Bottom) and Nigel Planer (The Young Ones).
I've never seen any Jonathan Creek before but the thing that drew me to checking out this title was the very funny Alan Davies following his hilarious antics on the smash hit BBC series QI. I genuinely enjoyed this feature long show and think that anyone who loves a good murder mystery should definitely check this one out. Fans of the show, of course, will be happy to get this in their hot little hands after nearly a year since its original air date.
Season 5 of Jonathan Creek is currently airing over in the UK with an Australian airing set to occur soon. Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook feeds for further details of this when it comes to hand.
