"Sitcom following the trials and tribulations of self-appointed Muslim community leader Mr Khan and his long suffering family. Khan is a larger-than-life character, a small man with big dreams and strident opinions. Like many of us he’s struggling to make ends meet – but he’s proud of his thriftiness – witness his 1979 suit and ancient yellow Mercedes. Things would be so much easier if everyone just listened to him and followed his lead, but his obsessively house-proud wife and two feisty daughters have other ideas."
To put it simply, I love Mr Khan! What seems like such a simple concept for a television program is executed so damn well! Massive congratulations to creator and man behind Mr Khan, Adil Ray for creating such a loveable and hilarious character.
Mr Khan's daughter, Shazia, is getting married soon to Amjad, a guy who is a few sandwiches short of a picnic! As being part of the mosque commitee, it is Mr Khan's duty to book the venue for the wedding. But the newly appointed mosque manager Dave (played by Kris Marshall) denies the booking. Now what will Mrs Khan do, the shame to herself and her family, she obviously will have to kill herself! But will Mr Khan sort things out? All is revealed within the first episode!
I couldn't recommend checking out Citizen Khan any higher! If you love situation comedy, with a little bit of racial comedy thrown in the mix, then this is the show for you! I can imagine fans of Mrs Browns Boys enjoying this show in particular. I can't wait to check out Series 2, set to air later this year!
