The Amazing World of Gumball - Volume 2

'Gumball's world is pretty run-of-the-mill. He's chased around school by a T-Rex. He has a friend named Anton who's a piece of toast. He's got a crush on Penny, a peanut with antlers. His dad is a 6'4 bunny. His mom works at a Rainbow Factory. And his brother is a goldfish named Darwin. Yup, everything looks perfectly normal here.'

The popular Cartoon Network show is back with it's second DVD release, The Amazing World of Gumball - Volume 2. Containing 6 all new episodes guaranteed to get the little hearts of CN fans pumping! In the tradition of Regular Show and Adventure Time,  The Amazing World of Gumball captures the cute animation and slightly subversive nature that defines Cartoon Network's new line of shows. It's nothing like Cartoon Network shows of old such as The Powderpuff Girls, Cow and Chicken or Codename: Kids Next Door.

Gumball is a blue 12-year-old cat who repeatedly gets himself into troublesome situations. Throughout the series, he is shown to have very limited intelligence, much like his father; although he has been shown to be able to think for himself, his plans often end up backfiring and leading him into trouble. Darwin, a goldfish, is Gumball's best friend and adoptive brother. Initially given to Gumball as a pet, Darwin later sprouted legs and subsequently became a full member of the Watterson family.

Gumball has taken home a host of awards including four BAFTAs for writing and animation and an Annie for Best Children's Animated Production, so there is no doubting that it is a very popular and successful show amongst it's demographic. The shows mix of different styles of animating techniques truly define's Gumball's brand and look - it really does stand out from the rest of the crowd!

I must admit, it's not necessarily a show I would normally watch but it's definitely something I would stop and have another look at whilst channel surfing around on Foxtel. I can see why kids of all ages love it - the amazing colours and sound effects would instantly grab the attention of younger children, while older kids would enjoy each of the 6 episodes storylines and each characters antiques and persona.

All in all, it's a good show to watch to make you feel better! Adults definitely won't hate it, and kids will love it!
