' The classic BBC Comedy series starring Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. The six episodes of this twelfth and final series were broadcast between Christmas 1985 and February 1986. Keeping laughs coming right until the end, the series contained great sketches such as Saying Everything Twice, The Cockney Rhyming Police and Mutiny on the Crunchie. Mini dramas included It Came From Outer Hendon and Hercule Poirot Meets Miss Marple and musical numbers featured Barker’s great Lightweight Louie Danvers. The series musical guests were Phil Collins and Barbara Dickson.'
The Two Ronnies have suceeded in becomming one of the greatest comedy acts in the world...of all time! Why? I think this, the 12th and final series of their hit BBC program, is a perfect example of why they are the best.
The Two Ronnies are now, unfortunately, just the one Ronnie, following Ronnie Barker's sad passing in 2005. However their comedy still lives on, thanks to these fabulous DVD releases encapsulating all of what The Two Ronnies were; funny, topical and entertaining.
From their introduction, "And in a packed program tonight..." to the "Goodnight from him", viewers would savour the familiar features - the news items, party, doctor, tramp and yokel sketches, Ronnie Barker's speeches and rambling digression monologues from Ronnie Corbett.
The six episodes contained in this twelfth and final series were broadcast between Christmas in 1985 and ended in February 1986, keeping the laughs coming thick and fast right until the very end. I recommend checking out any of the 12 DVD sets available from the series...I'm sure you'll be hooked and be left wanting more (lucky there's 11 others for you to 'binge' on!). Massive kudos to Roadshow Entertainment and the BBC for releasing these DVDs and making sure they won't be lost forever in the archives of the BBC, but brought out to a whole new generation of fans.
