"In its heyday, The Two Ronnies was as much a British institution as roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. In a glorious blend of visual and verbal humour, a typical programme begins and ends with the pair seated behind a desk reading quick-fire 'news' reports. In between, "in a packed programme tonight", there are sketches, ‘drama serials’, musical routines and a rambling monologue from Ronnie Corbett, before finally signing off with their famous catchphrase, "It's goodnight from me”, “And it's goodnight from him."

The five episodes of this series were broadcast in the UK early 1985. The classic The Sheikh in the Grocery Store and the laugh-out-loud sketch where Charles finishes Bert's sentences, are both featured along with many others. Mini dramas in this series include Sunshine Boulevard and Tinker Tailor Smiley Doyle. Amongst the hilarious musical numbers are the sax players of Cliff Clive and the Jivers and Plop of the Flops. Elaine Paige is the guest singer throughout the series.

Well, there isn't much that can be said about The Two Ronnies than what already has. They are genuinely two hilarious men whose comedy is still as funny today as it was all those years ago.

The Two Ronnies are now, unfortunately, just the one Ronnie, following Ronnie Barker's sad passing in 2005. However their comedy still lives on, in particular through these fantastic series DVD releases of their hit TV program.

This, their second last series of the show, contains two of my favourite sketches from the Ronnies. The 'Mispronunciation School' sketch and the 'Automated Doctor's Surgery' sketch. These, among the other already hilarious sketches, and big band music performances, strongly shows why the duo were so successful.

All in all, I definately recommend this DVD to lovers of 'olden day' comedy, and typical lovers of The Two Ronnies. I can't wait to check out Series 12 on DVD, which is released in August, and see how their last season was so memorable to people around the globe.
